It is still a retractable system. It disappears when you do not need it and keeps the window looking like a window.

  • Any window a cat can reach from furniture — often the real risk rather than the obvious one
  • Bedroom windows, which are left open overnight most often
  • Living room sliders and balcony doors, the widest openings in the home
  • Service yards, which are easy to forget and frequently left ajar

Living With It Day to Day

Pet-friendly mesh should not make a home feel closed in. Airflow remains good, the view stays largely unobstructed, and cats generally settle quickly — many treat the screened sill as their preferred spot, which is rather the point.

One habit is worth keeping: check the edges every few months. Run a hand along where the mesh meets its channel and confirm it is still held firmly along the full length.
